Waldemar Frederick August Wendt was born on March 15, 1912, in Millstadt, Illinois. He received his commission as Ensign in the U.S. Navy in 1933 and advanced to the rank of admiral in 1968. He served as Commander in Chief of U.S. Naval Forces, Europe, from 1968 to 1971. Wendt died on October 18, 1997, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. From the description of Wendt, Waldemar F. A.
